The central theme of this site is the idea of the labyrinth. A labyrinth is defined by Google as: “a complicated irregular network of passages or paths in which it is difficult to find one’s way; a maze”. To me, when embarking on a journey, whether intellectually, spiritually, physically, or otherwise, our experience is hardly ever straightforward. There is rarely a choice to simply continue forward or to stop as if a destination is already in mind or arriving there is guaranteed; instead, we are presented with choices that will either propel us closer to understanding a potential destination, a place that can harmonize our previous interactions, or farther into confusion, where all our prior experiences might as well have been inconsequential accidents. More than simply trudging forward, we are inclined to navigate through life in the pursuit of a destination!
That destination is only informed by the choices and connections we have made leading up to it; the destination is, more or less, the journey. The obstacle becomes the way.
